Title:TEACCH Principles of Structured Teaching

Resource Description

The class served 5 students and was staffed by a teacher and assistant. The curriculum was highly individualized for each student based on thorough evaluations conducted prior to enrollment. Each day was comprised of a variety of activities which included: small group work, fine and gross motor activities, independent work, individual instruction and the possibility of large group activities with non-autistic peers. Communications and social skills were built into all activities. Filmed at the Western Regional Autism Preschool Program, this 16-minute film highlights the three important aspects of the TEACCH approach: elements and structure of the physical environment, independent work systems, and daily schedules. www.shoeboxtasks.com Centering on Children, Inc. 2004 Riverside Drive, Loft 2, Suite S Asheville, NC 28804
