Resource Description

Sensitivity and Awareness is designed specifically as a resource for people who are concerned with helping children develop an understanding, an ease with people who are different, especially people with disabilities. This newly revised guide includes materials for use with all fifteen Turtle books. Included are basic facts about some of the more common disabilities students may have who will be included in regular classrooms. Through the non-threatening media of story telling, children can meet the children who have disabilities. Through guided use of provided discussion questions, fears and curiosity may be answered before the questions are asked in front of a person with a disability. Each session has suggestions for activities that will reinforce the learning's which have taken place. "Extra short stories and reproducible activity sheets are included." 96pp
