Resource Description

Phonics is the foundation of reading and spelling, and a crucial part of beginner reading instruction. How do we teach phonics to our learners with complex profiles? What kind of phonics programme should we be looking for? How do we make it accessible for these pupils?

This book offers simple, yet effective, strategies to enable children with a range of complex needs to access, participate in and respond to phonics activities as part of phonics instruction. As well as describing the strategies and giving examples of their use, supporting resources are provided so that you can photocopy them and get started with your pupils.

Included in this book are strategies to support learners with physical disabilities, speech language and communication needs (including pre- and nonverbal children), sensory needs, sensory processing needs and limits to attention and focus.

There aren't any available copies. You can reserve a copy of Access to Phonics by clicking the reserve button.
